Shooting

In June, I was released from the Relief Society presidency and immediately called to be the Laurel adviser.  I was pretty happy to be in a calling with the youth as I was burning out on RS and needed a change.  It's been an amazing calling.  So much more time-intensive, but so much more rewarding too.  The girls were very welcoming and are an amazing bunch.  In October, we went shooting with them.  It was a fun activity that girls rarely get to do, but we've got great guys in our ward and an amazing YW.  There were wild horses that came right up to us (until Byron Lacey accidentally hit one with a rock trying to spook them).  And all was well until poor Rachel Meservey shot a gun that had just been reloaded with the wrong ammo and it basically exploded in her arms.  It kicked back into her face and the ammo shot out the bottom.  As soon as it went off you could hear something wasn't right.  We all went rushing to her aid, and miraculously she was alright.  The tiniest pin-prick of a cut on her lip and her hands were slightly burned.  She was pretty in shock and a couple of the other girls too.  They soon left afterward before we shot some exploding targets and finished up.  Rachel was fine though and we were very blessed!  Besides that incident, I had a blast though.
Some of my awesome Laurels:
